Spring Golf at Myrtle Beach!

Apr 7, 2023 | Current News

The Grand Strand area is world renowned for its unmatched golfing experience, and the many courses are at their absolute best in the spring time when they’re fully able to shine! But with more than 80 award winning courses to choose from, it can be difficult for even the most seasoned golfer to choose which courses would be best for their next spring trip. Need some help? I’ve narrowed it down to four of the most stunning golf courses on the Grand Strand that are truly at their best during the spring season!

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

This jewel of a course can be found just south of Myrtle Beach in the beautiful Pawleys Island and is one of the most highly recommended in the area, especially due to its natural beauty. Caledonia was designed by Mike Stranz, who has created a thrilling visual experience comparable to a nature walk taking you through salt marshes and low country woodlands draped with Spanish moss! This natural Carolina setting is topped off with rows of century old oak trees and gorgeous flowers bringing you to their renowned Clubhouse that takes one back in time.  Caledonia Golf & Fish Club was rated one of the “Top 31 Best Upscale Courses in America” and is at its very best in the springtime!

Dunes Golf and Beach Club

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is one of Myrtle Beach’s most storied golf courses on the Grand Strand, opening back in the 1950s and having earned a myriad of accolades since then! Robert Trent Jones designed this course with Southern charm in mind, and the beauty of this semi-private layout is beyond words as you are surrounded by numerous classic lowcountry landscapes including pine forests, salt marshes, and the most stunning of all, the Atlantic Ocean. Dunes Golf and Beach Club has hosted the US Women’s Open and six Senior PGA Tour Championships, USGA Championships, and many more! This historic springtime is one of the best to play in the spring, when the natural environment is at its most beautiful.

Dye Course at Barefoot Resort

Next on our list is the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort – gorgeous golf course and iconic home of the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am! Though all of the courses at Barefoot Resort are stunning, there’s something special about the picturesque Dye course. The 368 yard Par-4 No. 18 hole is so breathtaking that it has become one of the most photographed golf courses in America. Peter Dye made a marvel with this one, and you can see many of his trademark elements in the course – man made mounds perfectly interwoven through dense forests, extensive waste bunkers, his beloved tricky pitfalls, and a mixture of natural grasses. To top off the beauty of it all, the Dye Course is surrounded by wonderfully wooded homes from the Dye Estates that frame this scenic course right along with the Intracoastal Waterway!

Tidewater Golf Club

Last but not least is Tidewater Golf Club, perched atop river bluffs, there’s no doubt that this is one of the most spectacular golf courses you can find around the area and on this list! Nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove Inlet, designer Ken Tomlinson takes full advantage of South Carolina’s natural beauty with the many tidal creeks and salt marshes, creating both a lovely and challenging golfing experience in full bloom during the Spring! The signature No. 13 hole has a stunning panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean while the course itself seamlessly interweaves with the local landscape and is so pretty that it belongs on a postcard. No matter their skill level, any golfer is sure to love not only the views but also this challenging yet rewarding course!
